After we became exchanged students, we both came down with a terrible case of “traveler’s itch.” But not the nasty kind, just the kind that makes you want to see the entire world.
While living in Belgium, we were able to visit several other countries. Both of us visited parts of England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Denmark. Jeremy also had the opportunity to visit Spain and Finland.
After a couple years of university, we both decided to do a semester in Mexico. Jeremy spent his semester in Guadalajara, Jalisco and Lynnette spent hers in Xalapa, Veracruz. There we both learned and improved our Spanish speaking skills in preparation for a 3-month backpacking trip to South America. In South America, we visited Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Uruguay.
Since then, we have gone back to Europe a few times as well as back to South America. Jeremy participated a summer program in La Rochelle, France, Lynnette went to France and Spain as a chaperone on a school trip, and this March (2011) we will both be chaperones in France and Italy. For Christmas 2009, we randomly went to Ecuador for 10 days (air miles – Ecuador was the only country that had two seats available).
We’re not sure where we’ll be headed next, but rest assured, we will go somewhere – traveler’s itch is incurable, it’s a lifetime disease!
